Shravan Sound Bath

We’re doing something a little different this time — doing the Mahāmṛtyuñjaya Jaap, and then moving into a sound bath. 

Considered to be one of the most powerful mantras in the Rig Veda, the Mahāmṛtyuñjaya asks for Lord Shiva’s grace to rise above the fear of death and attain spiritual liberation. The repetition of this mantra is a wonderful practice for healing, overcoming anxiety, fear, fear of death, recovering from illness, and death-like experiences.

Shravan is also the month devotees set aside specifically for Shiva. It’s traditionally considered the best time of year to take up mantra practice — the energy of the season is quieter, more inward, and a lot of people use this month to fast, chant, or start something they want to carry forward. If you’ve ever wanted to try mantra chanting, this is genuinely the month to do it.
